Scholarship applications: confirm the route before uploading

Scholarship routes use different application categories, agency numbers and document requirements. Confirm the exact route before completing the form.

Identify who receives the application

A scholarship name alone is not enough to determine the application route. The relevant notice should tell you whether the receiving organisation is a university, an embassy or another authorised body.

For China Scholarship Council applications, the programme category and agency number determine which host institution receives the application. An incorrect number can route the application incorrectly.

Build the document set from the current notice

Personal details, language preparation, study plan, education records and supporting files should be prepared against the current notice. Do not reuse an old checklist without confirming that the requirements and deadline still apply.

Build the checklist from one current notice

Record the scholarship name, receiving organisation, application category, agency number if required, deadline and official portal in one place. Confirm that the host university shown by the portal matches the route you intended.

Keep proof of the application

Before pressing submit, review the uploaded files and the final form. Save the application number or confirmation page. If a document must also be sent to a university, follow that university’s current instructions; a portal submission alone may not complete every route.
